Following the release of Part I, Botree Recycling Technologies is pleased to announce the publication of Part II of our series on LFP batteries and producer responsibility in Europe.

We first thank everyone who downloaded, shared and discussed Part I. The interest from producers, producer responsibility organisations, recyclers, investors and policymakers was far greater than we expected, and the conversations it opened confirmed that the question in the title is one the whole industry is asking.
Part II takes it on directly. Part I found that Europe has the legal framework and parts of the collection and pre-treatment system, but has not yet demonstrated LFP-specific recycling readiness. This second instalment examines what end-of-life management of LFP batteries actually costs, and whether Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), as currently implemented, is equipped to finance it.
The report examines:
💶 The full-chain cost of LFP recycling and why it leaves a residual end-of-life cost for producers
⚠️ The mechanisms through which a funding gap can arise under current EPR schemes, and the risks that follow
🛠️ Policy solutions across financing, battery tracking and market visibility
