Botree was established in May 2019, with a focus on processes and equipment for extraction of rare metal resources and recycling of rare metal materials. Through the innovation of separation system, design of short closed-loop processes and manufacture of smart equipment, Botree provides industry sectors of new energy, new materials and resource recycling a complete set of solutions to realize efficient and clean utilization of critical metal resources including Ni, Co, Li, W, and V, to reduce the consumption of primary mineral resources, enhancing the secondary utilization value of materials.

Botree is composed by experienced experts from several leading institutions, namely the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences (IPE, CAS), the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences (SIOC, CAS), the General Research Institute for Nonferrous Metals (GRINM), the KU Leuven, etc. Based on long-term researches and rapid advancement of hydrometallurgy, organometallic compounds, supramoleculars and preparation of metal materials, Botree has completed the research and development of dismantling, screening equipments and new separation systems, realized the design of recycling process for spent power batteries and SCR catalysts waste and thousand-ton pilot verification. 3 Chinese patents and 1 PCT international patent have been authorized.

Botree has successfully raised tens of millions of RMB during angel round in September, 2019 (4 months after its foundation). In future application of power battery and catalyst, under the benefit of advanced technology solutions, international sales and service-support network, Botree will provide smart disposal equipment for units dealing with metal waste disposal around the world. Simultaneously, Botree offers consulting service and technical support for large-scale metal extraction projects. With the utilization of edging technology and smart equipment in extraction of metal resources, Botree enables recycle enterprises, electric vehicle enterprises, battery manufacturers and other entities with recycling responsibility to realize short-process closed-loop cycling of raw materials and promotes sustainable usage of metal resources in the whole metal value chain.

Professor, Beijing General Research Institute of Nonferrous Metals

Pioneer of China’ nickel, cobalt and other battery materials smelting and separation; Leader of China’s nickel and cobalt industrial production line design and project implementation; Main compiler of many national standards and design specifications of nickel and cobalt. Special class, 1st class, and 2nd class of National Science and Technology Progress Award, the National Industrial Award, and nearly 10 provincial and ministerial awards. In 1996, he received the special allowance from the State Council.

Team member for more than 90% of the extraction and separation system in China. The P507 extractant developed by his team has been applied to more than 90% of the industrial production lines of rare earth, nickel, cobalt and other non-ferrous metals industries. The National Program on Key Basic Research Project of China (973 program) by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and several pilot projects and key deployment projects of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

She has extensive communication and in-depth cooperation with many internationally renowned enterprises, main customers in the rare metal industrial chain, and international organizations and institutions.
